Wrecclesham needs a Vicar

Letter from the Parochial Church Council of St. Peter’s Church – January 2026

Our lovely Vicar retired at the end of last summer and this has left us in vacancy. In planning for recruiting a Vicar for Wrecclesham, it has become clear that we will be unable to fund a full time post and that to pay for a half time vicar together with funding the work of St Peter’s Church, we will need to significantly increase our annual income. We plan to maintain our own independent Parish of Wrecclesham preserving our inclusive, welcoming, spiritual family.

“Please support our campaign to keep a Vicar in the parish of Wrecclesham to lead the worship, the work, and the community of St Peter’s”

St. Peter’s Church is entirely self-supporting; we need to increase our income, from parishioners and the wider community, by at least another £25,000 per annum.

We need donations on an ongoing or one-off basis towards this target.

So why does Wrecclesham need a Vicar? To be a spiritual presence in our Parish and

  • To lead regular Sunday worship, festivals and special services in the Church calendar.
  • To lead Community and Civic services (Remembrance).
  • To conduct services for life events such as Weddings, Baptisms and Funerals.
  • To provide pastoral care visiting the sick, housebound, bereaved, residents of nursing homes and others in need.
  • To offer support, comfort and guidance through all life events for the whole community.
  • To lead special services and activities for young people and families eg Messy Church, Youth Café.
  • To provide pastoral support for the young people and staff at St. Peter’s School through leading assemblies and serving as a School Governor.
  • To be a key voice in the local community.
  • To link with and support local uniformed groups eg Guides and Scouts.
  • To signpost services and support.
  • To be there for any individual in their moment of need.

Please support our campaign to raise £25,000 to keep a Vicar in our Parish of Wrecclesham.
